DRESS CODE
In order to foster a climate conducive to academic achievement, students will be required to follow the guidelines of the Thomson-McDuffie Middle School Dress Code. With the understanding that a student’s behavior is influenced by the way the student is dressed and with the understanding that no student should dress in a manner that is disruptive or that has an adverse effect on the ongoing school activities, the following guidelines have been developed with input from councils, faculty, administration, and students.
- Head coverings (hats, hoods, scarves, bandannas, curlers, picks, hairnets, sunglasses, etc.) are not to be worn on campus. See-through, mesh, or sheer garments are allowed with proper undergarments.
- Holes or tears must be covered if skin shows or tights must be worn beneath the pants so that skin is not visible above the knee.
- Shoes must be worn. Crocs clogs, bedroom shoes, UGG slippers/slides, any shoe in resemblance of bedroom slippers, slides (athletic or other), mesh shoes, shoes with wheels and other footwear deemed inappropriate by administration or designee are not allowed.
- Proper undergarments should be worn at all times but should not be visible.
