Welcome to TMMS!

Welcome 7th graders!! I will be your ELA teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. I am so excited to share in your learning experience here at Thomson-McDuffie Middle School. Parents, I will be your partner in providing a safe classroom environment for students to learn, grow, evolve, and become. Together, we can make this a great school year!

I am Telitita Burley! I am from a small town called Crawfordville. If you blink your eyes, you may miss it, but we're on the map! I graduated from Taliaferro County School in 2011. I later earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education at the Unsinkable Albany State University and a Master of Education in Secondary English Education at Georgia Southern University. As an educator, I am constantly learning and growing through experience and professional learning. I take pride in having the ability to shape young minds. Teaching gives me the opportunity to pour back into others what so many of my former teachers have sown into me. It was their impact that ignited and fueled my passion to lead, teach, and inspire both in the classroom and outside of the scope of the public education system.

I am very passionate about creating a safe classroom environment by building strong rapport with students to ensure they feel encouraged to learn and express themselves through literature. I am dedicated to creating a learning space that becomes an experience where students are actively engaged in the content while developing into confident writers, readers, and critical thinkers. My students are my reason each day I walk through the doors of TMMS. Welcome to Ms. Burley's class! You'll love it here!
