Welcome to 6th Grade Science

Hello and welcome to Middle School!  As an educator, it is my hope to inspire my students to have fun in the process of learning and to help all feel comfortable in our classroom.  I have a passion for teaching and love working with children of all ages.  My students inspire me on a daily basis, and I am constantly learning from them as well.  

It is a great honor and pleasure to expose them to the importance of the scientific world, as well as unleash their curiosity about the Earth, and explore Space.

I am a graduate of Georgia Military College where I studied Applied Science and Physics as a uniformed cadet. I am also a graduate of The University of South Carolina ( GO GAMECOCKS!) where I graduated with a double major in Microbiology with concentrations Ecology, Genetics, Life Sciences and History with emphasis in Middle Eastern Studies, The Revolutionary and Civil Wars. I worked extensively on a research project with the Wild Turkey Federation to save the wild turkey population in The Sierra Nevada's with the genetic modification of a species of chufa grass. I continued my education at CSRA RESA and completed my Teaching Credentials through the Teaching Academy of Pedagogy and Practice Program. I am an Alumnae member of Phi Mu Fraternity and participate in many volunteer opportunities in Augusta Georgia and within the CSRA. 

My work experience includes working in the Richmond County School Districts with grades 4-8 general education, special needs and gifted children for the last eight years. I’ve worked as a tutor for many years where I helped students with homework, science fair projects, attended many training workshops, organized fun learning games and kept an open line of communication with students parents. Lastly, I have a passion for Earth and Space Science and I look forward to sharing my expertise with you. 

In my spare time I enjoy traveling, visiting our family and friends, and enjoy being active in our community.

This summer, I took a 3 week road trip. I drove through seven states on my way to visit family in Northern New York and internationally in Ontario and Quebec, Canada.
