Meet Your Teacher-Ms. Megan Williams

Hey ya’ll! Welcome to my website! I am excited to be teaching your child 6th grade social studies this year! Here’s some background about me. I am from a small town called Vidette, located in Burke County. I attended Thomas Jefferson Academy during my adolescence, and I participated in cheerleading and One Act Play while I was in high school. I have an Associate of Arts in Pathway to Nursing from East Georgia State College and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Augusta University. I also am certified to teach 6th through 12th grade U.S. History and World History. The reason I became a social studies teacher is I am passionate about history, and I want to teach students the importance of history, especially how we can learn from our past to influence our future. I have 3 dogs, and in my spare time, I like to spend time with friends and family, go camping, play video games, and collect vinyl records, especially the oldies (Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Pasty Cline, and Sam Cook.) I am a sucker for the hits from the 50’s-80’s. My favorite historical era is the 40’s through the 60’s. I love the cars, clothes, music, history, everything. My philosophy in my classroom is I believe that students should have fun while learning because they are more likely to retain the knowledge. So, we will be doing a lot of activities and games throughout the year to support this. We are going to have a great year! I look forward to it.
